Steven Street has enjoyed a career that has explored his passion for good design, being around the best in engineering, architecture and fabrication.
He’s spent the last 20 years helping to develop domestic markets for new opportunities, change and acceptance of wood structural systems in the Canadian markets. Steven spent 12 years with the Canadian Wood Council’s Wood-Works initiative. This followed working in design, off-site panelization and factory prefabrication.
In his current role, he works with project delivery teams, designers and owners, to better understand the possibilities that are available around prefabricated mass timber systems and delivery models. This harnesses the importance of value engineering and constructability.
His passion is the industrialization of wood construction utilizing the factory-built environment. We are in an age of great change and have the chance of participating in historical changes to the building industry.
Climatic events, changing building codes, lack of affordable housing of quality, and the changing cityscape are disrupting the business as usual approach and creating opportunities.
Steven was a recent board member of the Ontario Structural Wood Association and is active on RESCON’s Technical Council. Steven regularly presents at Colleges and Universities on wood and its uses. Wood rocks!!!
